Error:
Word cannot open this document template.
Cause:
Either the File Locations Startup setting is directed to the same location as the templates subdirectory or the Buffers line may be missing in CONFIG.SYS.
Solution:
Change the startup location of the files in the 'File Locations' tab or add the buffers line to the CONFIG.SYS.
Do one of the following:
1) Change the location of the startup files:
a) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'
b) Click the 'File Locations' tab.
c) Select the 'Startup' subdirectory.
d) Click 'OK'.
2) Add the BUFFERS line to CONFIG.SYS:
NOTE: Make sure that the Windows NotePad is open.
a) Click 'Start' to display the Windows 'Start' menu.

b) Select 'Programs' and select the 'MS-DOS' prompt.
c) Open CONFIG.SYS to the Notepad.
d) Type BUFFERS=30.
e) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save'.
3) Reopen Word.
